Cambridge residents describe their city - using apples.

About

This exhibition documents the collaboration between artist Alan Warburton and the residents of Cambridge, who were asked to discuss political and social problems using fruit. The project explores the intersection between relational aesthetics, abstract painting and experimental ethnography and is the latest in a series of similar collaborations begun in Caracas, Venezuela in 2006. In the case of Cambridge, the fruits used are local apples and the problems discussed range from planning and development, sustainability, congestion and biodiversity to the integration of minority ethnic groups and the effect of the university on residents. These revealing conversations are documented from an aerial perspective, producing rich, detailed images that prompt a wealth of visual associations - from constructivist compositions, still life painting and information graphics, to architectural models and battle plans. Video and photography.
