About

We are excited to introduce a new monthly series spotlighting local creatives. Picking up where our Dog House sereis of shows left off, we have our very own LC (Cannibal Flower / Bittersweet) picking some of his favortie local artists culled from his Cannibal Flower group shows. Many will have larger shows ahead with Thinkspace, so be sure to pay attention to this new showcase series.

Each month, alongside our main three exhibitions, we will also host 2 to 3 new works each from 3 local creatives in our viewing room area. Works will be shared on our socials and offered online, as well.

Up first in Session 1 are local creatives:

Steven Morrell

Steve Morrell was born just outside of New York City. He studied design at Long Island University, then moved into a career in advertising before returning to his original love. Mostly self-taught, Steve works mainly in oils, but also uses acrylics, spray paint, or whatever else he feels will help bring his work to life. Steve is currently enthralled with the human form, in his perspective the ultimate vehicle for expression, in all its infinite shape, shadow and color. With the human form there is a knowing, an obvious relatability that allows the viewer to read into every subtle gesture and nuance and extract meaning. His goal is to create an ethereal sense with his art, to disconnect from everyday societal constructions. His paintings mainly feature nudes. There is no clothing or other manmade items to remind the viewer of the world the subject comes from. Even gravity is in question.

Josh Everhorn

Using his Bachelors Degree in Studio Art, Josh Everhorn has accomplished a multitude of undertakings. Josh currently holds a high-ranking position in the exhibits department at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. His artwork successfully juxtaposes his subject matter with traditional and otherwise non-traditional techniques. These techniques are employed to achieve his ever-evolving style; gathering inspiration from furniture design, romanticism, traditionalism, impressionism, fashion, street art and more. His artwork and murals have been featured in several different exhibitions and projects around the world, including the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, The UNICEF Next Gen Art Party, Urban Nation in Berlin, Germany, and the Vision Art Festival in Switzerland.

Nate Seubert

Nate Seubert is a painter, currently living in the greater Los Angeles, California area. He has exhibited his work in various local galleries, as well as nationally. Seubert works primarily with oil paint on canvas.

Artist Statement:
I try to use images to help explain the destructiveness, confusion and madness of the world around me; and to hopefully find a way to make things a little less so. My technique is inspired equally by the surreal juxtaposition of Salvador Dali, the social conscience of Diego Rivera, and the lush starkness of Francis Bacon. My interest is not so much in strict, literal visual accuracy; but rather in capturing the interactions in the mind… I strive to capture the reality that our eyes may miss. I am a graduate of the painting program at Syracuse University (class of 1995), where I studied under the incomparable Jerome Witkin. I have been painting since I was 16 years old, and have been making pictures of one sort or another for as long as i’ve been able to hold a pencil.
