The Early Works is a group exhibition curated by Alex Vardaxoglou attempting to pick apart the notion of disparity.

About

The Early Works is a group exhibition attempting to pick apart the notion of disparity. Disparity, defined as ‘a great difference’, is an expansive term. It’s true that we can observe a disparity between most things; my views and yours, this painting and that installation, your taste and mine. This is disparity in its simplest form. Its implications reach further than this however. It taps in to the politician’s desire to blur fact and fiction. It represents the growing inequality between peoples and cultures, and how this divides social and political landscapes. Aside from the political, there is a disparity between what we observe, what we believe to be, and what is actually the case. It is for this reason that disparity is so important to confront. It seems that if we can understand the characteristics that disparate entities, we can understand those entities better themselves.

Thirteen artists will display works considering such issues through painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, media and performance.
