"I've had enough of these streets that sweat a cold, yellow slime, of hostile people, of crying myself to sleep every night. I've had enough of thinking, enough of remembering."
About
Julia Maddison and Mathew Tudor create the squalid, down at heal digs of an imagined drinker. With references to post-war Soho, the work of Jean Rhys, The Waste Land and Hangover Square, a creeping sense of despair and decay pervades the space.
A new video piece by Luca Bonomo will be shown.
Exhibition runs from 9th - 13th March, 12 noon - 4pm
Private View Saturday 12th March, 2pm - 6pm
"I've had enough of these streets that sweat a cold, yellow slime, of hostile people, of crying myself to sleep every night. I've had enough of thinking, enough of remembering. Now whisky, rum, gin, sherry, vermouth wine.....Drink, drink, drink....As soon as I sober up I start again."
From 'Good Morning, Midnight' by Jean Rhys, 1939
