About

Following BrixLib Edition One, at Brixton Tate Library, Collagistes Collective were approached by Scaffold Art Space,  to hold an Exhibition - it's an opportunity we were glad to accept, and this will be  The Scaffold's  very first exhibition! We'll also be holding a FREE Collage Workshop on Saturday 12th May: 2pm - 6pm, as part of #kolajmagazine 's #worldcollageday !

Remember, Collage is an art form that is easily accessible to all and there are many creative hours to be filled enjoying it, it's a meditative creativity that rewards the time spent on it.

Don't be surprised if the whole family take it on board! Take a look online and see the vast range of people who make Collage, it's  been proven to be a wonderful  community based activity, so bring the family along to the  Free 'World Collage Day Workshop'  - you'll get creating and will be able to take your Collage home! Drop in anytime between 2pm and 5.30pm, please  keep in mind that we close at 6pm.

The Exhibition features many of the BrixLib Collagistes, they'll be showing new Collage. We will also feature Collage by members of Matthew Kay's Glue Club.

Scaffold Art Space's concept is "Opening Doors for Creative People" and is supported by Saint Saviour's Charity, Collagistes Collective independently offer support, development and opportunities to new and established Collagistes: Je Lena showed for the very first time at BrixLib, where she has a Collage called "The Door" - Her Collage Art received high praise from the Scaffold team, so, naturally: we called this exhibition "The Door" and featured it on the flyer! - it's an instant mash-up!

Scaffold Art Space is an initiative of the Styles House Tennant Management Organisation which was started 2012 , it's situated in their amazing family-friendly garden, which includes a fishpond stocked with Koi. There's a Vegetable Garden too; if the Sun is out, the  exhibition, the Gardens, the fishpond: you'll be able to enjoy it all!

The Vegetable Garden stands on land that was abandoned for years, boarded-up and being used by drug addicts - the whole space is an example of what can be achieved by community action. Styles House residents, under constant pressure from property developers, formed a TMO, took responsibility for their own affairs, built their environment and a community - the  Scaffold Art Space Gallery is the newest venture in their community led endeavors and Collagistes Collective and Glue Club have joined together to present Collage sourced  in the local area!

Please note: there is a strict Non- Alcohol Policy in both the Gallery and Gardens.
