Formed in 2016 as a platform for a group of eclectic and vibrant local artists, esbat will reconvene from 22nd February to 27th February at Dundas Street Gallery after a two year hiatus to present The Counterplan.

About

The theme of 2022’s exhibition is the abyss of no total centre exploring the unsettling loss of core beliefs and understanding in a response to the pandemic.

The collective deftly explore the notions of fragmentation and dissolution around the liminal experiences of shifting cultural reference at a time of huge change and reorientation.

Loosely based around “The centre will not hold” from WB Yeats's The Second Coming, esbat in a welcome return to form present a prism of different voices to create a coherent reflection and consideration on our experiences of disruption and change.
