In San Francisco in the mid 1970s an artist called Lynn Hershman Leeson created an alter ego, Roberta Breitmore and enacted her persona as a work of art for four years, documenting her through photographs, artifacts, film and sound. This exhibition looks at the complex nature of identity and the nature of the work of art and is being shown at the Whitworth for the first time in its entirety.
