CURIO is a miniature mobile gallery, designed to encourage and support collaborative artistic practice between the curator and selected artists.

About

CURIO operates around a variety of environments, artists are encouraged to take inspiration from public settings; facilitating a connection between urban spaces, it’s inhabitants and the artist response.

The objective of CURIO is to enable artists to create and develop work through an experimental environment. The outcome is potentially open ended, encouraging creative progression through contingent exploration.

THE CASE OF CURIO is influenced by 19th century ‘cabinets of curiosities.’ New works explore the aesthetic and contextual qualities of the ‘curious,’ highlighting the interpretation of inquiry. Artist’s responses are housed within portable carry cases, allowing work to exist in traditional and non-traditional exhibition environments.
