The Brush-men present: 100 Years of Attitude & the Stains of Time. An exhibition of paintings and performance by Graham Allum and Rikki Tarascas.

About

Graham Allum and Rikki Tarascas have collaborated on numerous theatre projects, even forming a comedy double act, appearing on esteemed stages such as the Hackney Empire and The Brighton Festival of Comedy. From those early days to the present, they've regularly embarked on a journey of exploration, face-to-face and through Zoom, video and telephone improvisations. These sessions are often protracted and involve journeys deep into absurd and fantastic worlds.

Echoes of voices from their pasts resound, adding depth and complexity to their performances. With their skills as improvisers, they delve into the depths of their experiences and fantasies, echoing the surrealist and Dadaist movements that similarly embraced the unexpected and often tiptoeing along the edge of wild pain and entropy.

This exhibition delves into a century of attitude, exploring the marks left by time. Sheduled performances offer glimpses into their exploration of the dynamic connection between theatre and performance art.

Their creative process sometimes bears a subtle shamanic quality, as they journey into the depths of consciousness and collective memory, navigating realms both mysterious and resonant.
