The Artist Dining Room collaborates with London-based chefs to hold a series of unique and bespoke artist-led supper clubs, offering an alternative dining experience where creative minds can engage and immerse themselves in the life and works of an artist through food.

About

"While recognising that great deeds have been performed in the past by men badly or crudely nourished, we affirm this truth: that we think, dream and act according to what we eat and drink." ~ Filippo Tommaso Marinetti ~

The futurist position presented a radical shift from tradition. Like all revolutions, it was created out of a retaliation with the past. To understand the intensity and vigorous nature of the movement’s works, The Gramounce will create a performative tasting menu as a response to the era’s ideas.

The Futurist Supper at Guest Projects will be a two-sided debate between tradition and exploration, rules and spontaneity. This will echo the futurist manifesto as a way of creating new ways of expression instead of adapting to heritage. The Gramounce will structure immersive performances embedded in the service around the menu, and the relationship between the guests, the waiters, the chefs.

Tickets include a six-course tasting menu and evening entertainment.

Guest Collaborators: The Gramounce

The Gramounce is a supper club to challenge the concept of the art gallery, question the relationship of artists and labour and successfully fund art projects. They aim to establish the meal as a new display context where the audience is comfortable to be able to access contemporary art. The guest’s attention is choreographed to better engage with the work shown. They organise dinners where an artist is commissioned to exhibit under the idea of the supper as an exhibition. The Gramounce is run by artists Nora Silva and Finn Thomson.

Chef: Jake Norman of Sabor Restaurant will be creating a six-course tasting menu. Vegetarian option available.

The Artist Dining Room is located at artist Yinka Shonibare’s Guest Projects space in East London. Guest Projects is an initiative conceived by artist Yinka Shonibare MBE which offers the opportunity to practitioners, of any artistic discipline (dance, visual arts, music), to have access to a free project space. Alongside Regent’s Canal, Guest Projects provides an alternative universe and playground for artists. It is a laboratory of ideas and a testing ground for new thoughts and actions.
