Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Morph or Rocky Rooster – all these characters belong to the legendary Aardman family, which began to delight fans over 40 years ago.

About

Now Wallace & Gromit, Shaun & Co. come to Frankfurt in the exhibition The Art of Aardman. The Deutsches Filmmuseum will be displaying the work of the British animation artists, who still work in the classic style with modelling clay, from 12th June to 30th October. It is the first large-scale exhibition in Germany to deal with the work of the Aardman Animation studio. Its clay animation films are not only Oscar®-winning crowd-pleasers, but have also been international leaders in modern interpretation, unleashing a veritable renaissance of the traditional clay animation process in the digital era.

But the creative process begins a great deal earlier, because before even a single scene can be shot, the Aardman designers must draw everything that goes into it: protagonists, character studies, storyboards, interiors, street scenes, crazy machines and inventions; „Drawing,“ says Peter Lord, „is the core of our work.“
