Temporary platform for emerging artists, The London Arts Board, hosts Cora Seghal Cuthbert's, "Thank You For Loving Me"
About
...Written carefully within primary school guidelines, firstly in pencil then traced over in red felt tip, in a font reminiscent of children's books and literacy lessons, Thank you for Loving Me, fills the board with an expression of strikingly innocent gratitude. The mythology of love suggests it is uncontrollable. It’s why there is something radically hopeful about saying ‘thank you’ for loving me, it pierces through the politics of love and lingering cynicism about whether it even exists at all. To love and to be loved – as it is folded into culture and art – is painful when unrequited, tragic when star-crossed, or uncontrollably euphoric. But Thank You for Loving Me, taps into the intentionality of love, that love is work and love is something that we do...
Cora Sehgal Cuthbert (b.1996) is a London based multi-disciplinary artist. Her work observes the connections between the personal, the cultural and a universal humanity/spirituality, with the aim of finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. She works across several media including photography, sculpture, video and text. While the form of each work may change, the objective remains to explore moments of magic within the everyday.
