The Texture of Life group exhibition is the culmination of workshops will take place at the end of a series of workshops by Pritchard's Road Day Centre members. They will showcase their unique 2D and 3D artwork and bring communities together.
About
The Texture of Life exhibition has been installed to celebrate and appreciate, living in a cohesive community, like this one; it enriches people’s qualities of life through visual arts. Since the exhibition took place — at the end of a series of workshops — the art group, from Pritchard’s Day Centre, are delighted to exhibit their work, to connect with wider communities at Idea Store Canary Wharf.
The exhibition consists of still life drawings, colourful landscape paintings, textured trees/leaves/fruits and handcrafted clay objects. The series of art workshops have been cultivated by the participants’ artistic talents to be more intuitive and to drive their basic human needs of curiosity, self-expression and creativity in visual arts. The participants have practised with acrylics, oil pastels, mixed media and simple drawing tools to experiment with skills and techniques:
Basic drawing skills from natural forms, shapes and textures of trees and leaves
Building tonal patterns to create form and value
Shading with mark-making exercises
Organising good composition by using the basic qualities of visual arts
Exploring, experimenting and investigating landscape painting themes
Using colours effectively to create visual texture and harmony
The fundamentals of understanding the colour wheel and colour theory
Building confidence in composing still-life paintings
Introducing basic clay crafting and clay building skills
We share our thanks to the work partners at Culture Seeds, Working Well Trust, Upskill_LBTH Pritchard's Road Day Center and the Idea Store. The Culture Seeds funding has allowed us to facilitate rewarding art workshops for vulnerable adults in our community.
