About
Join award-winning textile artist Simone Elizabeth Saunders in the gallery as she discusses the themes of identity, ancestry, and Black womanhood explored in the exhibition, Simone Elizabeth Saunders: u.n.i.t.y. Borrowing iconography from her Jamaican heritage, art history, literature, music, and current events, Saunders depicts single female figures, each a montage of powerful, inspirational Black figures that collectively surface as a strong and resilient community.
The event will be seated in the exhibition space so visitors may view the artist’s work while listening to her presentation.
