Taking its title from a series of works 'Tender Touches', 1976, by avant-garde Austrian artist Renate Bertlmann, this exhibition presents works which examine representations of body, sexuality and relationships.
About
Taking its title from the series of works Tender Touches, 1976, by Austrian artist Renate Bertlmann, the exhibition curated by Daria Khan triggers our sensorial perception, exploring the ways in which ar tworks are experienced by the spectator. The artworks engage with concepts of intimacy and alienation, pleasure and desire and address issues around the representation and objectivisation of women.
During the private view Zoe Williams will present Village Baroque; a collaboration with musician Vicky Steiri who will play a series of piano interludes accompanied by the serving of fine brandy and a ceremonial gateau throughout the evening.
The exhibition features works by Renate Bertlmann (1943, Austria), Friedl Kubelka/vom Gröller (1946, Austria), Eva Stenram (1976, UK /Sweden), Zoe Williams (1983, UK) and Julia Zastava (1982, Austria / Russia).
