Jamie Cooper's art practice is currently centred around the concept of 'Junk DNA Language' - over the last 2 years he has developed this Dadaist anti-logic language based on gestural mark making drawings made whilst dancing in the studio to Techno music. The name 'Junk DNA' draws inspiration from Sci-fi tropes such as Mutation and Transformation.
The symbols you view and experience in TEMPLE are components of the Junk
DNA Alphabet, the accompanying video is a tutorial in how to speak this fictional language outwards into the world. Cooper likes to speculate that when spoken outloud, Junk DNA invokes something into the world in a hauntological sense.
