Cathy Ward intertwines mysterious drawings of convoluted masses of hair with symbol-laden landscape installations. For her show at the Usurp Gallery, Ward transforms the space into cascades of entrancing evocations of that which is hidden, plucked out and forbidden. If the scent of her hair were to blow across my dust when I had been dead a hundred years, my mouldering bones would rise and come dancing out of the tomb..."
