About
(Did you learn more than you have been taught?)
What are the effects of organized society, education (especially in the arts) on individual creativity and expression?
How has social media, info and trend consumption, smart device attachment, the home computer, and the endless flow of info shaped not only subjectivity but human behaviour and individuality? How does one begin to care?
BANK puts on view a brazen group show by six young artists similarly bearing a casual approach towards art while clearly deploying each their own unique artistic style. Referring to the notion of ephemerality, transitory, these young artists con- ceive works that emanate a sense of apathy, indifference, irreverence and continual play.
Here, creativity appears to originate from the cheeky, soulless, uncaring, day-to-day weariness, while the familiarities with things reaches a point of surfeit and disinterest. Bearing a blasé-kind-of-state-of-mind, images from the Internet are con- sumed, appropriated and moulded into a new artistic discourse.
