On 3 May 2019, TANK will host Nathan Jurgenson, author of The Social Photo: On Photography and Social Media, published by Verso. A sociologist and social media theorist at Snapchat and editor-in-chief of Real Life. He will be joined by writer and editor Orit Gat.

Nathan Jurgenson
As the founder and editor-in-chief of Real Life, the co-founder and co-chair of the annual Theorizing the Web conference and an accomplished writer in his own right, Nathan Jurgenson is committed to developing bold new ways of thinking about images, technology and culture. He also works as a sociologist at Snap Inc.
His first book, The Social Photo: On Photography and Social Media, published by Verso, maps the ways in which the rapid production and circulation of images enabled by new digital platforms fundamentally alters our experience of the world.
Orit Gat
Orit Gat is contributing editor at the White Review and editor at art-agenda. She also teaches media studies at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and has written prolifically and percipiently about contemporary art and digital culture for numerous publications including Frieze, e-flux journal, ArtReview and Flash Art. She is the 2015 recipient of the Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant in the short-form writing category and was a finalist for the Absolut Art Writing Award in 2017 and the IAAC Award in 2017 and 2018.
