About

In this session, we take a look at the evolution of portraiture in Western European art. From death masks and coinage of ancient Greece and Rome to the country house portraiture of Reynolds and Gainsborough, which leads finally to the key developments in portraiture of the twentieth century, beginning with the Cubist portraiture of Braque and Picasso, and culminating in the multi-copy screen printed studies of Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor.
