Prof. David Rayson will explore how artists continually develop their practices, focusing mainly on reflection and responses through the medium of painting.
About
He will examine the way some artists navigate through new and historical textual and visual references, or sample from newly ‘found’ sources. He challenges the notion that often groups of artists are drawn to a particular period or conceptual zeitgeist, and by default, disassociate themselves from other historical positions. As in the current exhibition, this can create clusters of collective thinking, and interestingly: ‘gaps’.
