AboutTaiyana Pimentel, Director of Sala de Arte Publico Siqueiros, Mexico City, talks about the newly re-opened SAPS, focusing on its mission, architecture and programme of exhibitions. She also introduces her views on the current art scene in Mexico.
Named after the Mexican modernist artist David Alfaro Siqueiros, SAPS examines the gap between the history of modernity and contemporary art, functioning as a space for exhibitions, a centre for study, research, public lectures and panel discussions on contemporary practice.
Taiyana Pimentel's talk is part of a programme of international curatorial exchanges developed in partnership with Tate Modern and supported by the World Collections Programme. The exchanges start with reciprocal residences, providing opportunities for research and development, and are followed by an exhibition organised as part of the Level 2 International Series programme at Tate Modern.
