About
The Czech Centre London and The Performance Studio present Talk, So I Can See You, a film programme curated by Pil and Galia Kollectiv with recent work by Roman Štětina, accompanied by London-based artists Billy Howard Price, Molly Palmer and Mike Harvey, who will screen selected video works and excerpts from their on-going film projects. In a live, semi-improvised format Štětina will respond by selecting his own film and video works in relation to the topics and images presented.
The screening programme will be followed by a round-table discussion chaired by Pil and Galia Kollectiv with all four artists, in which they will be talking about editing, the relationship between sound and vision in cinema, and further ideas that emerge from the work. The evening will culminate in a screening of Roman Štětina’s recent video work Lost Cause (2014), which he will accompany with a live DJ set.
This event is taking place in the context of Štětina’s forthcoming residency in London, supported by the Czech Centre London.

Biographies
Pil & Galia Kollectiv
Pil & Galia Kollectiv are London based artists, musicians, writers and curators working in collaboration. Their theoretical work addresses the legacy of modernism, exploring the promises and ruins of the avant-garde discourses of the twentieth century. Recent lectures, seminars and workshops have addressed performance and video practice and theory, belief and radical orthodoxy, object-oriented philosophy and sculpture, art and democracy and immaterial labour.
Pil & Galia are also the directors of artist run project space xero, kline & coma in London. They work as lecturers in Fine Art at the University of Reading, and senior lecturers in Fine Art at the Cass School of Art. They have had several solo shows in the UK and abroad, and have presented live work at, among others, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the 5th Berlin Biennial; Arnolfini, Bristol; Late at Tate Britain and ICA London. Most recently, they participated in Mirrorcity at the Hayward Gallery, London.
Roman Štětina
Roman Štětina studied at the Prague Academy of Arts and at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. In his practice he uses video, installation, audio-visual interventions and other media to capture relationships between sound, image and objects transforming in space and time. In 2014 he was awarded the Czech Republic’s prestigious Jindřich Chalupecký Award for young Czech artists. Selected recent exhibitions include Silver Lining, National Gallery in Prague; Souvenir, Polansky Gallery, Prague; All Watched Over, James Cohan Gallery, New York;Straight to Camera: Performance for Film, Modern Art Oxford. From February-March 2016 he will be participating in the artist-in-residence programme at Residency Unlimited, New York. He lives and works in Prague.
Billy Howard Price
Billy is a video artist and musician from London who makes work in testament to the latent psychotropic potential of sound and image. Since graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2013, he has shown work at various screening events and group exhibitions. In 2014 he held his first solo show at xero, kline & coma in London. He plays drums in the rock group Puppy and is currently working on a long-term film project about Time + Space.

Molly Palmer
Molly Palmer’s work incorporates music, choreography, painting, writing, costume-making and sculpture to produce layered video works and multi-channel installations which chase the fugitive sub-sensations that flicker at the edges of perception. Mollyreceived her BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College (2007) and has gone on to exhibit and complete residencies in London, San Francisco, Stavangar, Glasgow, Istanbul and Paris. She is currently in her final year of the Royal Academy Schools' postgraduate programme. Recent exhibitions include Premiums: Interim Projects at the Royal Academy, Heckle performance programme at Bosse and Baum, London and The Fade, a touring solo exhibition at Enclave, London, CCA Glasgow and Torna, Istanbul.
Mike Harvey
Mike Harvey was born in Belfast and is bothered about what eats at you when you're nudged into your coffee shop sofa-spot. He works in sculpture, video and other appropriate mediums. Recent exhibitions include Brick Biter, fourFOLD, London; 1/2 Cut Chromes, Gildengate House, OUTPOST, Norwich; and So Swamped So, xero, kline & coma, London.
About The Performance Studio
The Performance Studio is a production and rehearsal space, set up by independent curator, David Thorp to provide a creative hub; a free space for invited artists to experiment with and cultivate performance and live art related activities over an extended period of time.
This small-scale, process-led project presents an open-ended environment for the exploration of ideas with performance centre stage as an artistic discipline. The Performance Studio exists for artists to develop new projects in experimental theatre, live art, sound and moving image, so that ideas in gestation can grow freely and unconstrained.
In Summer 2015 The Performance Studio took up new residence at The Nines on the Copeland Estate in Peckham, in a dedicated space leading off the main cafe and bar. Throughout May, June and July a programme of events encompassing performance, screenings and talks with invited artists, curators and guest speakers took place. In Autumn 2015 further collaborations have taken shape, including the forthcoming event hosted by Bosse & Baum, and organised in partnership with the Czech Centre London.
