1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair 2018
04 Oct 2018 – 07 Oct 2018
Somerset House
London, United Kingdom
£0 – £27.54
We are dancing for joy because in October, Be Smart About Art is going to visit 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House in collaboration with Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery.
1-54 is the leading international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora with annual editions in London, New York and Marrakech. Drawing reference to the fifty-four countries that constitute the African continent, 1-54 is a sustainable and dynamic platform that is engaged in contemporary dialogue and exchange.
BSAA Founder and art world entrepreneur Susan J Mumford will introduce you to the fair, ranging from its role in the art market to what to see at this edition. She’ll then lead event attendees to the Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, where Kristin herself will meet the group to introduce the artworks on display and share her vision. Not only will you gain insight and inspiration into the gallery’s program, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes peek into Kristin’s forthcoming museum exhibit focused on African Artists at Vestfossen, Norway, taking place Spring 2019. You’ll then be free to explore, with an option to meet the group to compare notes and venture to other events.

You’ll meet the group at 1.45pm in the courtyard just beyond the North entrance to Somerset House (entrance via the Strand – and if it’s raining, meet under the arch). The group will enter the fair promptly at 2pm.
