The winner of the seventh annual Liverpool Art Prize, chosen from a shortlist of three artists, is Tabitha Jussa.
About
Awarded both the main prize and the People’s Choice in 2014, Tabitha now presents an exhibition of her work at the Bluecoat.
Tabitha works with photography and has a particular interest in the relationship between people and place. This has led her to focus on the city’s social housing; its architecture and design and the impact of numerous regeneration initiatives on resident communities across the decades.
Here she moves her focus to docksides, contrasting Liverpool’s skylines with the burgeoning dockside developments of Shanghai, Liverpool's twin city which she visited in 2012. The exhibition presents atmospheric panoramic views across the Mersey and across the Wusong River while reflecting on the different pace of change in each country and region.
The Liverpool Art Prize launched in 2008 and has been under the strategic direction of Metal since 2014. After seven successful iterations the prize is being evaluated and revised in 2015 with a new opportunity for artists in the city to develop work pending in 2016.
