About

Crop Up is a student-run curatorial group based within the University of Nottingham. Drawing inspiration from Michael McMillan's exhibition Sound Systems Back In Da Day, Crop Up have commissioned two Midlands based artists to explore music and the phenomena of vibrations and synaesthesia, a condition where stimulating one sense triggers another – here hearing music may cause visions of bright colour and abstract shapes. Addressing challenges faced by individuals who live with sensory impairments, in particular hearing impairments, Crop Up and the commissioned artists embrace the qualities surrounding music in a way that is open and accessible to all.
