The Artist in a Collected World brings together artists, curators and museum professionals to explore the different ways in which visual artists have worked with national collections.
About
When artists create new bodies of work in response to a museum collection, how might this open up established collections to a general public, reflect upon the given meanings of objects and encourage different strategies of display and interpretation? The symposium will look at why this kind of activity has grown in the past decade, what artists and museums have gained from the process and what role it might play in the future of our institutions.
Speakers include: Andrew Grassie, Claire Gulliver, Uta Koglesberger, Jo Melvin, James Peto, Ilaria Puri Purini, George Shaw, Ben Tufnell and Colin Wiggins. Convened by Mark Fairnington.
This event is presented by Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon Graduate School Public Programme.
Booking Essential.
