Drawn directly from the collection at Swedenborg House, Swedenborg and the English Romantics looks at previously unexplored links between Swedenborg and William Blake, S T Coleridge, John Flaxman and others.
About
It has long since been known that the visionary and philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg was an important influence on John Flaxman, S T Coleridge, W Blake and others during the romantic period. However, it is not so widely known what that influence is and how it took shape. In Swedenborg and the English Romantics, these links will be explored from the standpoint of the unique archive and collection at Swedenborg House. The exhibition will include etchings and other miscellanea by William Blake, hand written letters and marginalia by Coleridge, artworks by John Flaxman, and numerous original items from the life of Swedenborg.
