Swan Lake Solo is an online project on www.liaux.org, whose main idea is to recycle Tchaikovsky's most famous ballet, embodying all the roles with a single performer.
About
SWAN LAKE SOLO is a project by Ukrainian choreographer and dancer Olga Dukhovnaya developed in close collaboration with Russian composer Anton Svetlichny. Not only the dance, but also the music by Tchaikovsky, are rehabilitated and reinvented. The starting point is the idea that creating the new - even radically new - recycles the old.The material of Swan Lake Solo is not be invented but separated from its meaning and the emotional component of the characters. This process is carried out by using the principles of the formal recomposition inherent in conceptual electronic music: multiplication, loops, compression, downsampling and other forms of distortion. Tchaikovsky's score becomes a source of material to be treated with any required degree of freedom.
