About

As part of Surreal Women, Cob Gallery is presenting the first UK solo show of British surrealist photographer Wendy Bevan. Entitled The Pain of Desire, the exhibition features a series of surrealist photographs reminiscent of the likes of Lillian Bassman, Man Ray and Lee Miller. Beautiful yet haunting, nostalgic yet timeless, Bevan's surreal femme fatales are captured on Polaroid. Each hand-printed, these intimate, otherworldly studies are displayed in found, antique frames sourced by the artist. Surreal Women is presented in collaboration with concept store Guts for Garters. Taking over the Gallery's Project Space, Guts for Garters will include pieces from Grayson Perry, Eileen Agar, and Alexander McQueen among many others. Guts for Garters' also explores the depiction of the female, using the anarchic 20th century female surrealist Claude Cahun as its inspiration. Both artists and curators will be on hand to answer questions and welcome you to the space. There will also be a series of performances from special guests. To RSVP please contact 205 Royal College Street, London NW10SG
