About

Surfaces are scratched with investigation, broken with momentum, and moved with determination. They are worked on, reconstructed, and polished. They shift, they evolve, and they protect the integrity of the whole. In 2013, the Manchester School of Arts' photography students have SURFACED. The SURFACED exhibition showcases selected works from artists across the United Kingdom and beyond. Using analogue and antique methods, as well as the digital hybridisation of traditional techniques, these emerging talents present the culmination of years devoted to theoretical inquisitions and development of craft that has facilitated their transition from students to independent practitioners.
