Contemporary glass artist, Stevie Davies, will be showcasing a new series of works which she has created in her studio at Banks Mill. The exhibition has been developed from a series of photos which have been translated into mixed media artworks, primarily made using fused glass techniques and metals.
With free creative drawing and collage sessions, Meet the Maker events and texture filled Fused Glass workshops there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved. The project is trying to encourage people to take the time to stop and look, really closely, at their surroundings. To find the beauty in the little things.
Stevie comments: “I like to find the beauty in the smallest of details, most passing by wouldn’t even give them a second look but I can’t help but be fascinated by the textures and colours of a section of pavement after it has rained when it’s showing off a shimmering interaction with a layer of engine oil”.
The exhibition, at Banks Mill Studios, 71 Bridge Street, Derby, DE1 3LB www.banksmill.co.uk, opens on 17 July and runs until the 4 August and can be viewed week days between 10am-3pm and weekend’s by appointment by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
You will also have the opportunity to speak to Stevie about the project in her Meet the Maker event on Sunday 23 July from 10am – 2pm. No booking required.
