About

Brian Chalkley | Edward Cotterill | Vanessa Hodgkinson | Charlotte Jonerheim | Sanghyun Kim | Kangwook Lee | Mohammad Namazi | Emma Neuberg Private View: Tuesday 12th February 2013, 6 - 8.30pm Exhibition runs: Wednesday 13th February — 14th April 2013, open daily 11am — 6pm SURFACE is a group exhibition exploring a variety of approaches to surface through painting, textiles, collage, drawing, print and objects, crossing the boundaries between fine art, craft and design. The exhibition will demonstrate the notion of surface, including pattern, repetition, texture, patina and material, as well as the deeper meanings and wider contexts beyond an object's physical surface. Each artist's practice negotiates the nature of physical surface and conceptual process, connecting the surface appearance of the work with its meaning. SURFACE will feature recent works by the following artists: Brian Chalkley | Edward Cotterill | Vanessa Hodgkinson | Charlotte Jonerheim | Sanghyun Kim | Kangwook Lee | Mohammad Namazi | Emma Neuberg SURFACE is an exhibition curated by CHELSEA space research fellows Kate Ross and Daisy McMullan. Research Fellows at CHELSEA space are supported by Chelsea Arts Club Trust and The Ashley Family Foundation. As with each exhibition at Chelsea Futurespace, a new publication will accompany the show, published by CHELSEA space.
