About

‘Supermodernity' is characterised by excess, a charged surplus in the three domains philosophical and, more particularly, anthropological thought has come to rely on as its cornerstones: Time, Space, and The Individual.' Marc Auge Action & Power is proud to be selected for the 1st Art Licks Festival Weekend - 3th to 6th of October 2013, and will be presenting a new exciting adventure: 'SUPA-MODERNs'. How can visual artists characterize ‘supermodernity'? This exhibition wish to explore whether or not this historical moment in contemporary life is different enough to signal the advent of a 'New Epoch', and if it is prevalent enough how can we actually characterize it. This new Action & Power exhibition will bring a contemporary picture of our modern society. Action & Power is a project based in east London, designed to showcase new collaborative artwork from upcoming young artists with historical and political approaches to art creation. Emerging from the necessity of making independent exhibitions expressing total freedom in the production of art. New works are born through the collaborations between the invited artists and are presented in a non-competitive environment. We hope this will lead to an exchange of ideas and thoughts between the artists, art lovers and local communities. The primary objective of this project is to stimulate human capabilities: the curiosity for knowledge and commitment to life. As a collective People we have to make an effort to reorganize our educational politics, facilitating cultural preservation and collective identity. Artists: Bruno Jamaica, Francisco Ortega, Yuri Pirondi, Ines von Bonhorst, Rodrigo César, Vinny Montag Curators: Bruno Jamaica, Francisco Ortega
