Our summer season offers a host of events for all the family around the theme of play and our exhibition Think.Play.Do.

About

There’s lots to see and do at The Tetley. Explore art outdoors, take part in free art workshops and enjoy picnics and drinks on Brewery Green. Get involved and play your way.

Family Play

Tiny Tetley
Wednesday 24 June, 22 July, 26 August, 10.30am – 12.30pm

Tiny Tetley sessions offer drop-in creative fun for under-fives. Bring the little ones along this summer to take part in creative messy play led by specialist artists.

Joshua Tetley’s Birthday Party
Saturday 18 July, 10am – Late

This one day festival of creativity in honour of the brewery’s founder is a FREE one day annual event with something for visitors of all ages to get involved in. This year we focus on ‘play’ with projects by partner organisations, musicians and artists including the Broken Art Collective, Pyramid of Arts, AMP Awards, Josh Gibbs and Dawn Todd.

Family Art Workshops
Every Saturday throughout August, 11am – 3pm

Led by artists and picking up on themes within our exhibition programme, join in some hands-on creativity. Open to all, although recommended for children aged 5-11.

Play Outdoors

Art Riot
June onwards

As redevelopment of this par t of the city picks up pace, look out for contemporary art interventions in public spaces around The
Tetley in partnership with cultural organisations across the South Bank.

Jem Finer: Spiegelei
16 July – 27 September

We’re delighted to bring Jem Finer’s Spiegelei (2010) from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to the urban setting of Brewery Green outside The Tetley. Spiegelei takes a playful look at reality through a camera obscura mounted on an off-the-shelf garden shed, distorting and inverting the surrounding landscape.

Northshore Bike Track at The Tetley
Saturday 8 August, 11am – 5pm

Practice your bike skills on Brewery Green. See if you can make it all around in one go without putting your feet down! If you don’t want to have a go yourself, come along and watch the riders in action. All participants will receive annual membership at The Works, worth £15. You will need to bring your own bike along to this event.

Den Building Festival
Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August, 11am – 6pm

This fun event returns to The Tetley for a second year. Prizes are awarded for the best dens, though you’ll have to go some to beat the trains, pirate ships and castles that made last year’s event so extraordinary. In the event of bad weather, we’ll take the action indoors. All materials are provided.
