This poetic, visually refined documentary creates an intimate memorial to the most successful Czechoslovak artist of the early millennium. Ján Mančuška died tragically at the age of 39. He exhibited at MoMA and the Centre Pompidou, but did not achieve comparable fame in his homeland. The vast body of work he left behind is united by the principle of absence - what is not in the painting speaks with surprising intensity. Director Štěpán Pech approaches Mančuška's portrait in the same way, tracing the boundaries of his intimate, family life and cultural landscape with an absent centre.

As a pre-film we will screen Kateryna Khramtsova's short film Qirim (2023).
Antonina Romanova and her partner joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 25 February 2022. Before Russia's attack on Ukraine, she lived a civilian life as a director, performer and actress. The film Qirim follows her personal journey of resistance to Russia's occupation policy.
