Sue Campion pastels and Kyra Cane ceramics
About
Sue Campion’s pastels are drawn paintings. Using sandpaper as a base, the pastels catch the rough surface, creating texture and layers of pigment, giving a similar quality to paint. Sue Campion’s landscapes are mainly of Shropshire, where she lives and works, and Spain where she lived for many years. The earthiness of the Shropshire hills, contrast with the vivid colours of the hot Spanish landscapes.
Kyra Cane uses Limoges porcelain for it’s colour and strength. She is inspired by vast landscapes and the clay lends itself as a canvas for the marks, both drawn and painted onto the surface. The marks blur and make subtle changes in transparency and colour as they wrap around the pots.
