Stupidité Naturelle is an exhibition conceived by the artists Pablo Castañeda (Cadiz, 1989), Miguel Nuñez (San Roque 1991) and Jaime Abaurre (Seville, 1987).
About
Stupidité Naturelle (Natural Stupidity) arises from a reflection and counterpoint towards the so-called "artificial intelligence" which is currently on trend. Etymologically, the word intelligence has its origin in the Latin intus legere, which means "to read inside" and refers not only to the capacity to understand what we see on the outside, but also to the capacity to choose between various options, distinguishing the accessory from the essential. By creating all kinds of bizarre situations based on more or less random associations of concepts, the artists reflect on the ways in which images are created nowadays, as well as our way of understanding them.
The exhibition is centred around a large-scale main work, produced on-site within one of the walls of the space's main room. Just as if it were a cinema, a grandstand enhances the contemplative and visual character of the artwork, thus reinforcing the creative concept of the exhibition. This display mode aims to integrate the viewers, observers and passers-by with the main work, making them official participants in the images created by the three artists that float above the same support. Through their own interpretations, comments and experiences, the public comes, in a certain way, to complete the work as a whole.
In short, Stupidité Naturelle is the result of the creative and experimental impulse that led three artists of very different natures to come together to create a heterogeneous yet uniform work, in the manner of a contemporary Garden of Earthly Delights.
