Since forming in 2014, 3/8(Jānis Dzirnieks, Jānis Krauklis, Kristiāna Marija Sproģe, Rihards Rusmanis) have explored new approaches to mutual cooperation and art production methods sprung on by geographical separation. Using a variety of media and file sharing platforms such as Google Docs, the members simultaneously add and subtract each other's interactions, working in an often unpredictable manner to create works that emphasise reaction and action. For Studio Visit, the group has utilised postal services to create a series of box “studios” that have been transported throughout Europe, at each stop being altered in response to the studio’s previous location before finally arriving in Aberdeen to be exhibited. The exhibition will mark the first time the collective has shown work in the UK.
