Building on the success of the Street Art Gathering in June 2014, Showcase Gallery will take over the Guildhall Square with live art and music on Saturday 25th June 2016. Street Jam Live 2016 is a free, open to all event.

A chilled out creative day for all ages in the heart of the City
BONZAI, SLAM, LATCHKEYKID, JINKS, NOVA, ILLUSTRATION SHOWDOWN and many more …………
Leading international graffiti artists, street artists and illustrators will be showing off their skills to the public. The artists will create new work on large scale canvases of perspex, board and industrial cling film throughout the day. Illustration Showdown will bring some competition to the jam, with their live art battles.
To add to the street vibe, SOCO Music Project will be in residence with an open mic stage, hosting impromptu performances from local hip-hop artists and rhymers.
This is a great opportunity for all ages to come and see artists and musicians working live. There will be activities for all ages to join in and learn some skills, including:
· Live music making
· Kids Chalk area
· Community Stencil Wall
· Open mic sessions
It is all free and open to everyone!

Industrial Clingfilm canvases - ‘cellograff’, a technique developed in France in 2009, by Astro and Kanos, which involves using spray paints on a cellophane surface, creating a wall-free, legal, graffiti piece.
Illustration Showdown - Southampton based organisation, founded and lead by Illustration students at Southampton Solent University. They organise regular live art battles between local artists and students.
SOCO music project is a local organisation that engages people of all ages in music and creative projects. They will be in residence with an open mic stage and live music.

Showcase Gallery was the first major addition to Southampton’s emerging cultural quarter and is situated on the Guildhall city square, near the City Art Gallery and the Sea City Museum.
Showcase Gallery features contemporary visual art that encourages engagement, discussion and participation with the whole community. The creation of Showcase Gallery coincides with the expansion of the art courses at Southampton Solent University; generating a new era of visual creativity at the University.
Showcase Gallery supports up-and-coming national and international artists to providing examples of the best contemporary art to inspire students and a wider audience. It embraces the idea of cross-disciplinary collaboration to highlight the creative talents of the University, highlighting contemporary ideas and seeking to engage the widest possible audience.
