Strange Coast explores the entangled female response to the object observation and its transformation.
About
Taking its title from Paul Nash’s atmospheric lithographs of the Dymchurch coastline, Strange Coast is an intimate dialogue about the meeting points between two artists; one alive and one deceased.
Marion Adnam’s (Derby 1898-1995) paintings and selected objects, from Derby Museum, will merge with Cathie Pilkington’s ((Manchester 1968) provisional constructions and assembled doll like sculptures.
As a continuation of Pilkington’s recent project Working from Home (Pallant House Gallery, Chichester), Strange Coast will explore the entangled female response to the object observation and its transformation, where paper dolls traverse the shores of the conscious and unconscious mind.
