Moody collage-based drawings inspired by the Norfolk landscape

About

CANALl is delighted to present a second solo exhibition by Adam King.

The new collage-based drawings take inspiration from current building developments in the Norfolk countryside and explore contemporary relationships to the changing landscape and the landscape tradition.

The iconic forms, fleeting light effects and brooding atmospheres of Norfolk are evoked, alongside references to the landscapes of Ravilious, Nash, Ruisdael and Constable.

Adam King was born in Norfolk, and lives and works in London. He completed his MA in Drawing at Wimbledon College of Art. His works are held in numerous collections, including Saatchi Gallery, V22 and World Wildlife Fund.

Current exhibitions include an installation of collages at Merton College, Oxford, curated by Gallery Attache in association with Flora Fairbairn.  Recent solo shows include We Live Together Like A Sky on Fire (CANAL), After the Sky Fell In (Burlington Gardens at the Royal Academy), Canary Wharf Public Windows Programme, and  recent group shows include Remix: Selections from the International Collage Center (USA museums touring exhibition) and Pomogaze at Leeds City Art Gallery.
