About
An exhibition of ordinary men and women who have done extraordinary things in their lives.
The students from Cheadle College wanted to create a snapshot in time of the men and women who have served their country and now meet at the Produce Hall every Friday.
The youngest veteran is 23 years old, the oldest is 91 years old and between them they have served in every war and operational setting over the last 75 years. These veterans have served in every campaign from Malaya in the 1950s, through to:
- Cyprus
- Aden
- The Falklands
- Northern Ireland
- Bosnia
- Kosovo
- Iraq
- Afghanistan
The intention for this exhibition was to create a platform whereby ordinary men and women who have done extraordinary things are acknowledged. Visitors will be able to go through the exhibition and perhaps recognise some of the people whose photography are on display and hopefully remember their names. Then, perhaps they will visit the beautiful War Memorial and read the many thousands of names inscribed on the walls.
At the end of the exhibition each portrait will be presented to the veterans and will be a lasting thank you to them and their family.
