Driven by a passion for painting, Barry Patterson takes a contemporary approach to traditional subjects. His paintings are a mixture of observation and spontaneous response, looking to explore the subtle shifts between form and abstraction.

About

In contrast, Tom Smith enjoys enhancing the sensuous quality of wood, favouring flowing forms and naturally textured surfaces inviting touch.

Driven by a passion for painting, Barry takes a contemporary approach to traditional subjects. Working in oils and with a palette knife, cloths and sponges as well as brushes, his paintings are a mixture of observation and spontaneous response, looking to explore the subtle shifts between form and abstraction.

Drawing from shapes and patterns found in nature; macro and micro, architecture and other design fields, Tom enjoys enhancing the sensuous quality of wood, favouring flowing forms and naturally textured surfaces inviting touch.
