Still Life in Oils

As an artist the subject of still life presents the opportunity to take inanimate objects alone and in groups and bring them to life through a vibrant use of colour and texture when the oil paint is applied in an immediate and expressive way. During this workshop it is hoped that this bold use of paint will lead to more confident and engaging results for the student. This immediate and painterly approach will remove the inhibitions normally so prevalent in the application of paint allowing for a more fluid and confident response to the subject. It is also hoped that through this workshop students will produce paintings that are both dynamic and personal and have absorbed a way of working that can be transferred to any subject. For painting courses we will provide both oil and acrylic paper, zest it (sorry no turps or white spirit allowed), basic brushes and pallets and a range of boards and easels. We do not supply oil or acrylic paint so please bring these with you including your own pallets, brushes and canvases you may wish to work with.
