Gabriel Castaño, a multidisciplinary artist based in Madrid, explores in his work the visual principles of balance, gravity and chance.
About
The photographic series “Still Life” is based on ephemeral sculptures of everyday objects that the artist puts together in the form of tense encounters, creating a personal visual poetry in which chance is key. The pictures show a precise union of apparently conflicting elements, suspended in time and enclosed in the snap shot. This game of smoke and mirrors hides the complex nature of representation, in which the spectator is the one granting the final meaning.
