From Owls to Orton, celebrated stencil street-artist Stewy brings his prints of site-specific cultural icons - and beloved British wildlife - back to his old neighbourhood of Stoke Newington for an exclusive exhibition of work both and old.
About
Stewy's artwork is part of an expanding library of life-size stencils of British Icons - Malcolm McLaren, Mary Wollstonecraft, Tony Wilson, John Cooper Clarke and many others - along with a series of images representing the A to Z of Indigenous British Animals.
The icons are site specific artworks placed in locations relevant to them, while the animals are seen in an urban setting to highlight the notion of nature reclaiming the city.
These well-known stencil artworks are now also available as highly collected limited edition silkscreen prints, which will be on sale during the exhibition, along with a small edition of signed booklets and a range of stickers.
The exhibition will also see the release of new limited edition screenprints of guitar legend and Stoke Newington resident Thurston Moore, and renowned playwright and erstwhile Islingtonite Joe Orton.
