About
Steve Butt’s work revolves around the interaction of nature and the urban environment, in which an ‘oblique narration’ is taking place between the participants and their surroundings. Graffiti, cables, buildings, bus shelters etc all interpose themselves or emulate aspects of a given situation in which no clear conclusion is resolved. On a formal level they consider the properties of structure and measurement in opposition with randomness and the natural world.
