Join movement directors Katie Grube and Nicola London in a movement workshop to connect to your proprioceptive senses and a more “embodied” cognition.
About
The basis of the movement director’s job is to enable actors to be as fluent in the language of the body as they are in the spoken word. The movement director facilitates the release of physical inhibition and habit, and the discovery of different physical modes. As visitors experience exhibition and gallery spaces, their movements are guided by their encounters with various physical stimuli.
Drawing on their knowledge of varied physical techniques such as contemporary dance and yoga, as well as a strong foundation in anatomy, Katie and Nicola will guide the participants through a series of movement improvisations and technique-based exercises. Participants will explore their body’s potential and habitual behaviours and gain a better sense of corporeal awareness.
This workshop is aimed at all levels of movement experience. Comfortable clothes are advised.
Workshops will last ~20mins with a maximum of 10 participants per session. Minimum age 10 years.
Workshops will start on the hour and will last approximately 20 minutes. Pre-registration recommended.
