GALERIE8 proudly presents Stefan Constantinescu's first solo exhibition in the UK, An Infinite Blue. As a showcase of oil paintings, drawings and tracing overlays made from 2009 - 2011, this body of work marks the artist's return to these mediums after more than a decade working as an established filmmaker and director. Taking the title from Angela Similea's song, emblematic of the 1980s in Romania, Constantinescu approaches the act of painting as self-reflexive practice and platform for discovering identity within a contentious political environment, taking archival photographs made publicly available after 1989 as their point of departure. à‚
